Bridge House


Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors although Bridge House is on several levels and access for some may present difficulties. Please contact us for specific information but the following information will be helpful in your initial decision.

Pre-Arrival

*Bridge House is situated in the lower village of Boscastle a short distance to the coastal path and village amenties. It is an almost level walk from bus stops in both directions, approx 50 metres away. There is an hourly bus service from both Bude and Wadebridge directions with the exceptions of Sundays. The nearest railway station is Bodmin Parkway, a thirty minute journey by car and there are frequent bus connections to Wadebridge.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

*Parking for Bridge House is in the public carpark approx 50 metres away, guests are welcome to pull up outside the property to unload bags if they wish. We offer assistance with luggage. There is a 2inch threshold to access the courtyard to Bridge House and then a standard step into the property, leading to a slate floorway, bedrooms are then located on the first floor via a staircase directly from the porch, which is 40 inches by 90 inches. There is a doorbell and doorways are illuminated at night. We cannot accomodate dogs at Bridge House. 

Main Entrance & Reception 

*There are no ground floor bedrooms, although the breakfast room is on the ground floor through a standard width doorway. There is easy access between the breakfast tables. Guests are greeted on arrival and shown directly to their room where facilities and guest registration is completed.

Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

*There is one flight of stairs to all bedrooms with handrails either side for assistance. Stairs, landing and bedrooms are all covered with a short pile carpet. All doors are standard width. A separate WC is available, with a small wash basin. All doors to bedrooms are fire doors which are self closing. Emergency lighting is fitted in all public areas and smoke detectors are fitted in public areas and all bedrooms.

*Bridge House has a tea room which is open daily, both rooms are situated on the ground floor and the outside courtyard provides further seating. A 2 inch threshold leads into the courtyard and a standard step leads into the tearoom entrance. Childrens highchairs are available. Chairs are without arms and tables can be re-arranged to suit requirements. Standard fire doors are fitted for each tea room and emergency lighting and smoke detectors are fitted.

Public WCs 

*There is one public WC for guests which is located on the first floor at the end of the corridor.

Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

*There are 2 bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin. All rooms are en-suite with a power shower. All rooms are located on the first floor via a carpeted staircase with handrails both sides. At the top of the landing a further step of 8 inches leads to the bedrooms on either side of the landing. Doorways are 29inches wide. All light switches are located on the wall approx 51 inches from the floor. Televisions have remote controls.

En-suites

*There are no baths in guest rooms. The doorway into the en-suite is 22 inches wide and there is a step of 11 inches into each shower enclosure. Two have bi-fold doors and one has a single door. Floors in en-suite are lino. Taps, hand basins, towel rails, mirrors and lavatory fittings are of standard height. There are pull cord light switches in all en-suites. En-suites may be less accessible to those with impaired mobility.

*Emergency Procedures

*There is no other access to guest rooms and public areas other than via the staircase and landings. There is a centralised fire alarm system, emergency lighting and smoke detectors in all areas. Fire extinguishers are in all public areas. Guests with inpaired hearing are asked to advise us. Emergency procedures are detailed in the handbook in each guest bedroom.
